Big, round lighting fixtures put traditional chandeliers in a different kind of light

17 Sep

If you’re looking to replace an existing chandelier or install a new fixture in your home, don’t be a square. Large-scale orbs and globes are part of the big new trend in eye-catching overhead fixtures.

Depending on the size of your room, you can either go for a single fixture — typically 20 inches or so in diameter — or create a cluster using a variety of sizes as shown at left with Hubbardton Forge’s Cirque collection.

There are options for every type of decor, from transitional to contemporary. For added drama, you’ll find plenty of bling — faceted or cabuchon beads — threaded on the framework of these global fixtures. Unlike traditional tiered chandeliers with teardrop beads, the beadwork on orb pendants pick up light in a different way and reflect it with dazzling impact.
